Our story

It started as a Facebook group with a very specific obsession.

Salt & Sand is what happens when 12,000 people who love the Bahamas keep answering the same question: "where should I actually stay?"

The group formed the way most good ones do — a handful of people comparing notes after trips, then a few hundred, then thousands. Over the years the same threads kept resurfacing: which Nassau neighborhoods are worth the premium, whether Georgetown or Emerald Bay suits a first Exuma trip, how to spot a listing that photographs better than it lives.

The answers were good — sharp, honest, hard-won. They just kept getting buried. So we started collecting them into proper guides: island by island, neighborhood by neighborhood, with the trade-offs stated plainly instead of glossed over.

That's all this site is. The community's collective knowledge, organized — and pointed at the rentals we'd genuinely send a friend toward.

“We don't get paid to like a place. We like it, and then we tell you where to book it.”

How we choose what to feature

01

Members have stayed there

Every pick is grounded in real stays from the community — not scraped listings or press trips.

02

The trade-offs are stated

No place is perfect for everyone. We tell you who a rental suits — and who should skip it.

03

No pay-to-play

Hosts can't buy a spot. We earn commission on bookings, but it never decides what's listed.
