Cookies
We keep this to the minimum. There's no advertising network behind this site.
What we use
The site itself is static — it has no login, no basket, and no session to remember, so it sets no cookies of its own for those purposes.
We use two analytics tools, treated differently because they work differently. Umami counts visits without using cookies at all — it's on for everyone, always, and it can't be used to identify you individually. It only ever sees anonymous page-view counts.
Google Analytics only runs if you accept it in the banner shown on your first visit — see "Your choice" below. If you do, it uses a cookie to tell a returning visit from a new one, and also collects which pages you view, general device and browser information, and an approximate location from your IP address (not a precise one). It also records a few specific actions — clicking a "Check availability" booking link, submitting the email checklist form, or using the contact links — so we can tell which pages are actually helping people book or get in touch, not just which ones get visited.
Booking widgets
Some pages embed interactive tools from our booking partners — a GetYourGuide activity search box, for instance. These load regardless of your analytics choice, because blocking them would mean the tool itself doesn't work, not just that it goes untracked. They may set their own cookies under their own policies; we don't control that.
Fonts
The typefaces on this site are hosted on our own servers, not loaded from Google or any other third party — so simply loading a page here never sends a request (or your IP address) anywhere just to display text.
Affiliate links
Following a link to a booking platform (Airbnb, Booking.com, etc.) hands you over to that platform, which will set its own cookies under its own policy — the same as visiting it directly.
Your choice
The banner shown on your first visit lets you accept or decline Google Analytics specifically — declining still lets you use every part of the site normally, booking widgets included. Your choice itself is stored in your browser's local storage, not a cookie. Change your mind anytime:
Turning them off
Every browser lets you block or clear cookies in its settings, and doing so won't break anything here — no part of this site depends on them. Most browsers also offer a "do not track" setting, which analytics tools increasingly respect.
